Can I book airfare through Stitchers’ Escapes?

Since we are primarily event planners and needleworkers, and not a full service travel agency, we are not set up to offer airfare booking.

Royal Caribbean has a program called Air2Sea, through which you can book your airfare. They will make sure that you are booking a flight that meets their recommendations based on the ship’s departure and arrival, and their team will get you to the ship should you miss it due to a flight delay or cancellation. They guarantee the lowest priced fare on your choice of airlines, or they’ll give you 110% of the difference as an onboard credit.

Can I purchase travel insurance through Stitchers’ Escapes?

Since we are primarily event planners and needleworkers, and not a full service travel agency, we are not set up to offer travel insurance.

That said, you never know what life may bring, so we do encourage you to purchase an insurance policy. As Jean mentioned in her Facebook post about insurance for the 2017 group, an insurance agent once told her everyone is insured for every thing in their life…the only question is “who is the insurer?” Because if you don’t have a policy, you are self-insured! Although we are not set up to offer policies ourselves, we suggest the following resources:

You can purchase a policy through Royal Caribbean, although everyone in your cabin needs to do so. More information can be found on their website, here: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentWithGallery.do?pagename=cruise_insurance. If you buy it through another agency, each person in your cabin can have a separate policy. If you are coming on the London Pre-Cruise Extravaganza, remember to ask if they can cover that portion as well!

Does my cruise fare include a project, or should I just bring my own?

Your cruise fare includes a stitch-along project, as well as the teaching fee for one half-day class aboard the ship. The half-day class will also have a kit fee, which will vary depending on the materials. Our teachers are working on designing their projects now, so we don’t have pricing just yet. Our 2017 classes ranged from $45-$100. You will also be able to sign up for additional classes if you like.

Note that for the 2018 Escape to Europe, these details only apply to the cruise portion. Classes during the Pre-Cruise London Extravaganza are offered a la carte.

What is the best airport to fly in to?

In our opinion, both of the main London airports (Heathrow and Gatwick) are equally good. If you are attending the Pre-Cruise Extravaganza, both have easy options for getting in to the city via train or tube. If you are only coming on the cruise, you’ll find bus transfers to Southampton from Heathrow and bus or train transfers from Gatwick.

Will the London Pre-Cruise Extravaganza include a transfer to the ship?

Yes. We have arranged a coach transfer to our ship at the port city of Southhampton with a stop at Stonehenge. The price will include transportation and the Stonehenge admission. Since the 2018 ticket prices have not yet been published, this is our best estimate based on current prices.

If I am not attending the Pre-Cruise Extravaganza, how can I get from the airport to the ship?

Will ground transfers be available after the cruise from Southampton to the airports or to London?

Yes! Once we know who is flying when, and from where, we will set up a group shuttle if it’s practical to do so. If not, we’ll have a list of options for booking on your own.
